My Creation Story: Evolution of Energy

My Creation Story: Evolution of Energy

Emerging Energy

I’ve always been a spiritual person. I suppose we all are. We’re made up of Spirit, right? I didn’t truly begin seeking all things spiritual until I formed a personal relationship with God at 13. Since I don’t believe in coincidences, it still lights me up that 13 is also my favorite number and plays a prominent role in my Human Design chart, but I digress. I’ve had profound spiritual experiences along the way, but today, I want to begin with a gift that has been with me from the very start, my connection to energy.

Explaining Energy

Energy = Power x Time. Energy can be measured. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Energy is the unseen force that flows through everything: our bodies, thoughts, emotions, and the world around us. It can be felt, shifted, and directed, influencing our well-being, mood, and overall vitality. We are constantly exchanging, responding to, and creating energy. So, isn't the Spirit of God energy?

Experiencing Energy

I’ve always perceived the world energetically. I sense the energy of people, places, and things first. It’s my initial impression, before words, actions, or even conscious thought. That energy guides how I navigate each situation, shaping my interactions and decisions. I knew I had other abilities (we’ll get into that another time), but I never considered that experiencing the world this way was unique until much later in life. A turning point came when a friend commented on the way I described my experience in Spain. She told me it had never occurred to her to experience something energetically. It had never occurred to me not to (I wouldn't even know how). That was the first time I realized my connection to energy might be an actual ability. And while I believe any ability is accessible to all of us with practice, for me, this connection is innate.

Exercising Energy

My fascination with anatomy and physiology started in 5th grade. It was the first time I stopped daydreaming in school and truly engaged in learning. That curiosity stayed with me through high school and college, where exercise and movement became essential to me. Running, in particular, was a spiritual practice. Studying exercise science in undergrad deepened my love for understanding how the body works, especially how energy moves through it, from nutrition and breath to heartbeats and muscle contractions. But over time, I realized it wasn’t just physical; Energy extended far beyond the body.

Expanding Energy

I first experienced energy healing in high school after I injured my knee while running. I was in a lot of pain and couldn’t walk when a visiting relative offered to pray over me. She placed her hands on my knee, entered a meditative state, and began speaking in tongues. I was skeptical but intrigued. When she finished, my knee was completely healed. No pain at all. To this day, I’m not sure what she would call this practice if anything but prayer, but I know she called on Jesus for all things.

The second pivotal experience happened just after college while working at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. A coworker had just attended a hospital-hosted Reiki workshop and wanted to practice. At the time, I had sharp unexplained pain in my cheek, so I let her try. Within minutes, the pain disappeared and never returned.

Those experiences excited me. I became curious about energy healing and spiritual practices. I absorbed everything I could: chakras and auras, enneagram, human design, mysticism, menstrual cycle awareness, yoga, Catholicism, any religion, God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit and the Bible. Deep down, I knew I wanted to learn and eventually practice energy healing.

Exploring Energy

Over the years, I started visiting various healers and holistic practitioners: massage therapists, Reiki practitioners, chiropractors, acupuncturists, Chinese medicine, and spiritual directors. I always felt incredible after these sessions. These practices became a form of self-care for me.

When I discovered and studied Human Design, things made even more sense. Human Design showed me how each of us interacts with energy uniquely. Understanding how energy flows through me, has helped me show up with more intention and purpose in my life, my work, and my relationships.

So when the opportunity arose to study Reiki with a Reiki Master, my Sacral response (hello, Manifesting Generator!) was a clear yes. Yes! I want to learn how to use divine life force energy to help people! But I also felt a pause as I had a client I needed to wrap up first. I honored that pause, and less than 24 hours before the Reiki retreat, I delivered my final photos and off to the retreat I went. That alignment felt like divine timing.

Embracing Energy

Now, I’m a Certified 2nd-degree Reiki Practitioner. What started as curiosity may now become part of my purpose. I can help others reconnect with their own energy so they can live with more clarity, healing, and alignment. This journey is still unfolding, and I’m excited to continue deepening my understanding and practice. If you’re reading this and feel drawn to exploring your own energy, trust that nudge. The world of energy is vast, but it’s also deeply personal. If you're curious about energy healing, I'd love to connect. Whether you're looking to understand your energy, explore Reiki, or just have a conversation, I'm here for it.

Energy Epiphany

Call it an epiphany, a download, a spiritual awakening. I prefer the phrase, intuitive thought. While writing this blog (my very first one), I had an intuitive thought to the question I flippantly posed earlier under "Explaining Energy" - Isn't the Spirit of God energy?

If God is energy and energy = Power x Time, then God = Infinite Power x Eternal Time. So God is infinite, always present and ever flowing. Wholly Mommy! Many spiritual traditions describe God as Omnipotent (all-powerful), Omnipresent (existing beyond time), and Omniscient (the ultimate intelligence that flows through all things).

While we're at it, scripture describes God as light, breath, fire, and spirit, all of which are forms of energy. And if energy is never created or destroyed, only transformed, that, too, aligns with the idea of God as eternal and ever-present energy.
